About Jam Coding

Jam Coding is one of the largest providers of Computing Education in the UK. We aim to change the attitude around digital subjects by showing young people how fun, creative and varied they can be.

“Since 2015, the number of children taking GCSE computing has dropped by 40%. This is because young people have become disengaged with the subject. We are on a mission to change that!” Roger Grogan, CEO and Founder

We work with primary schools to inspire and educate young people. It’s at this key age we can instil lifelong habits, passion and skills for an inclusive digital future.

85% of the jobs Primary School Children will do in the future aren’t even invented yet.

80-90% of those jobs will require coding proficiency

100% of them will require proper digital literacy

Our mission is to deliver life skills to the next generation of digital citizens.

The Jam Coding curriculum has been incredible. We are now in our second year of running it across the school and the children are really excited about their computing lessons. It has really contributed towards the development of their skills and knowledge. Teachers are much more articulate in using computing language and more familiar with the strategies and elements that are being taught now through the new curriculum.

Mrs Abram, Head Teacher

My daughter loved the coding club you ran at her primary school. Educational but also loads of fun, she hasn’t stopped talking about it! Many thanks.

L. Hardman, Parent

As the class teacher I know from the way the children talk to me that their skills and knowledge are progressing. They can tell me exactly what they’ve been doing and they can explain how to do it. Throughout the school we have a large proportion of children with ASD and they have access to the full curriculum using Jam Coding. They’re proud of what they can achieve, they talk about their skills and knowledge and the hack sheets really support them to take part in the lesson with full enjoyment.

Mrs Fletcher, Assistant Head / Year 6 Teacher

Brilliant after-school club at St Joseph's Wrightington. My son can't wait for each term to go to the sessions. Brilliant class. Highly recommended - 5 stars!

K. McSperritt, Parent

I think the Jam Coding curriculum has really enhanced the children’s vocabulary, especially blended into different curriculums. It works well in the year 4 curriculum on science, in which we use data loggers. The children are now able to explain the process of how those data loggers work.

Mr Kennedy, Year 4 Teacher

What can I say about Jam Coding. Theo (7) had always been a bit of a tech geek and loves computer games and robots. He’s recently attended the Saturday sessions at Geek Retreat. He’s not one for groups but he shot up and out of bed in the mornings, so he could be on time. He can’t wait to start the next sessions and he’s definitely found his thing. Coding for the win! Excellent and encouraging teaching from Jam Coding, thank you so much.

C. Lathaen, Parent

To put it bluntly, the Jam Coding curriculum ticks all the boxes. We’re delivering a quality computing curriculum and we’re delivering it well.

Mrs Smith, Year 2 Teacher

My daughter Isobel did the coding club with Jam Coding at St. Mary’s. She loved the classes and it has really got her interested in coding. She has now gone on to do the animation club which she is also thoroughly enjoying.

J. Patterson, Parent

Year 6 absolutely love Jam Coding computing lessons. I’ve seen them develop over the years, from not know much about computers to being able to do… well, much more than I can do! We have SEN children in our class and they adapt really well to Jam Coding sessions. They have different levels of hack sheets and the first one is scaffolded to help them more, then the children choose which hack they want to develop. We’ve seen them so proud of themselves by the end of the lesson, they’ve even been and shown the head teacher all their work.

Mrs Doherty, Assistant Teacher, Year 6

It’s so nice to have a non-sporting after school club for a change, my daughter has really enjoyed the activities and it’s really boosted her coding confidence.

L. Shaw, Parent

Did you know?

Digital skills are no longer limited to tech and online roles, but are now nearly-universal requirements across all sectors and skill levels today.
